"Being able to share the plans for "rooms" or "chunks of a base."
Certainly an interesting idea for later addition. Elder Scroll Online has something like this. I am not sure if there is a public list, but sharing from one player to another is definitely possible. The closest we came to this after the 1st housing Beta, which did not include the Blank Slate option, was to make it possible for players to show off their base. That was in response to several requests for decorated bases in the feedback of the first housing Beta. The current layouts are simple enough that it is easy to see what created the look or which items were used. Not quite the same, but going in that general direction.

Okay, just had a thought that is *very much a long term thing*. Not expecting this anytime soon, but figured it might be fun to think about:
Being able to share the plans for "rooms" or "chunks" of a base. To explain what I mean, I'm going to describe a bit about the game that gave me the idea.
StarMade, which is basically minecraft but in space, lets you build spaceships out of blocks. There's all the different types you'd expect, like engines and hull and logic, etc.
But it also lets you save a chunk of blocks into a library, and lets you place that entire chunk down in one go. So if you wanted to build a fleet of ships with a consistent style, instead of having to build every ship up block by block you can build a cockpit room, a cool engine design, a few corridors chunks, etc. and then composite the ship together out of those. Much quicker and easier.
You can also export and import these blueprints, so people can share these libraries for other people to use.
Hopefully you see where I'm going with this for SoH - a "marketplace" of pre-built base rooms. "Cool base hospital ward". "English Manor Drawing Room". "Alien Research Lab". Then you could just spend some dust and paste the room into your base. Obviously then completely editable once done.
Now, I admit this is hella complicated. And it might mean a lot of bases end up looking very similar, but you already have pre-built layouts. This just fills in the gap between "completely pre-built layout" and "build everything from scratch".
Anyway, just throwing it out there 🙂

And the more prisoners you have of a certain faction the more likely that faction is to raid you?
as long as it happens when you are online. maybe an alarm *Prison Escape* notifies you that your prisoner escaped and is in your base.
Sometimes You Feel Like a Tank, Sometimes You Don't

Probably best to have them automatically refreshed, tbh, as I doubt anyone would otherwise voluntarily use the system.
But I like the idea of holding cells - maybe just a really small chance of a defeated enemy being captured, if you have a cell free? So you get a fun "collection" mini-game going, trying to capture one of each enemy. And the more prisoners you have of a certain faction the more likely that faction is to raid you?

Your defense idea is very interesting. That is definitely going on the list.
If by "specific missions to obtain unique base items", you mean missions that allow you to get items that you could not buy, even in game currency, then yes, that is in the plans.
As for the pre-built/pre-decorated bases, this was a fairly common request coming out of the Housing Beta. So, we are currently discussing how to make this happen.
If that is possible then another neat idea is to have your own personal holding cell for super-powered villains(a little demeaning but think of trophies in CoH). Maybe after an attack, you either run them off or maybe capture some of them. That could lead to a breakout in your base. Fighting villains in your base can cause items to be destroyed so have to be re-purchased. It would have to be an optional system as I'm sure people probably don't want items destroyed or randomly attacked.

Just a Wishlist as I have no idea of the feasibility of such systems or something that would need to be added much later:I would like to be able to add defenses and be able to defend against random attacks or attacks initiated by playing certain missions where I aggravated some villain.
Specific missions from your base computer that allow you to obtain unique base items.
Pre-built starter bases for those of us not as creatively inclined, either for sale or created/chosen by the community and available for free(you still pay in-game currency or whatever it used to normally obtain a base).

I know this question was asked on the feedback questions after the beta, but I have a new entry on the "who has the best base building in a game" - No Man's Sky.
I kinda forgot about it (like a lot of people) after the terrible launch, but I was recently persuaded to pick it up, and yeah, it's come a long way.
There's a lot of similar elements in the base building interface that might be worth a look - they have snap-to on by default but allow a free-placement mode too. There's a toggle to switch to a freecam for placement if your character is getting in the way or you can't get the right angle. Individual pieces can be spun and resized (though only on all axes simultaneously). All while arguably a lot easier to use. Figured I'd mention it in case another reference point is useful.

Thank you to all who participated in the Beta. A special thanks to those who took the time to submit feedback. The response has been great! We have been reading, analyzing, and discussing your feedback for several days now.
We are already working on some of the things you requested and are planning how to address the bigger changes. Some members of our community are very creative! We were fortunate to get good feedback in equal part from players who really enjoy making bases and from players who want a base but would rather be playing than perfecting their base. This gives us a sense of the range we need to accommodate.
In the next newsletter, we are going to discuss some specifics from the event. But for now, we just want to say: thank you!

That would be good too when you want a sky view for your ceiling. On the other hand it is pretty convenient to have ambient lighting by default. Perhaps a toggle next to light intensity/hue to make ceiling lights all disappear or appear?
I'm not saying remove the ambient lighting, just the actual "physical" lights that are baked into the ceiling texture? Or can you not have one without the other? To be honest, I'd rather have neither over both if those are the only two choices.

Can we have the ceiling without built in lights please? We have a tonne of light fixtures we can buy and place where want them to be, we don't need lights that don't match the base aesthetic or in the wrong places.

A few more quick niggles:
Base Walls don't have a top edge texture.

Bases need to have two modes. one where you can edit your base and one where you cannot. and the owner of the base should get a popup when you enter as to which mode it will be in. right now you are always in edit mode. Every time you hover over an item it glows to be moved or deleted or whatnot. this should only happen in edit mode.
Totally agreed, whenever I wanna test walk in the house it's like playing in MJs Billie Jean video 🙂
I really enjoyed the house builder last time I tried it. Now I'm more clear about the extent of the builder system and what I'm allowed to do. For instance , instead of using the ready-made handrails I created them out of timber walls by shrinking the height to the minimum and maximising the length in Z axis. And it looked really good at the first floor platform.
The only comment I wanna add at this stage would be the builder system to have "Copy" or "Match Property" feature.
For example, I tested the windows yesterday. I used around 10 windows in the house, and I followed the steps below:
- buy 10x windows
- place one of them on the wall
- scale it
- assign a background view
And I had to repeat this process 9 more times. By the way, I didn't see a percentage value in the scaling feature, so I wasn't sure how much I changed the width & height of the original window. So, the windows were not identical.
2nd example: I used floor lights on stairs, looked really amazing. I set the light colours on one of them and there are 3 light colour settings. And I had to copy the values to other 13 light fittings with 39 copies & pastes 🙂
Thanks,
Blast.

Just a niggle rather than constructive feedback.Do we really need background music playing, when we have a voiceover giving us instructions on how to use game tools ? (it was really distracting for me and I missed half the instructions)
The first thing I do in any game I play, is go to options and turn off the music.
Good point, Fuxake! Thank you for bringing it up. We will check into it.
We also want to make sure you know that you can adjust the sounds in our game too. Once in the game, press the escape key to bring up the game menu, and select “System Settings”. Select “Sounds” on the left.
You can turn on all or select sounds by clicking the corresponding check box. In addition, the volume can be adjusted separately for ambience, music and dialogue.
You can also select the hardware on which the sound is broadcast.
These instructions and more can be seen on this website, under Game Support > Customizing the UI.
