When do you guys feel that this game will be release in 2023 since the year is almost over.
I really hope this game does well because i am huge fan of hero games but i have been disappoint in games that where rush and broken. Can you post kind of a time line that be close that your fan base have idea what to expect on the waiting time thank you for your time.Β Β

We are also opposed to rushing and launching a broken game. We are trying to have a public event this year and will update the date after we hear the player feedback.

Smile Thank you for articulating this. Yes, Ship of Heroes is unrelated to City of Heroes. Different team, different story, different time, different place, different archetypes and powers, different....You can read about it here: https://shipofheroes.com/game-elements/

Great to hear from the team. I check back every now and again to see where things are.

Getting a game out and in the market would be a very big thing. However, the caveat is that it's a good game πŸ™‚ Rushing a product, no matter how much we'd love to see it will never help. So, if the move to 5.1 increases the quality of the product and launch, then yes, do it before you do so. You have only one chance at making a good first impression. I would also think that the time you put into upgrading the engine would also be time that you could spend letting the mission and lore folks do their thing. So it might be very beneficial time indeed.

As for content, that depends.

I would expect a fairly robust amount of sandbox elements; dynamic missions, street encounters, etc.

I would expect major missions/stories at every range of the leveling experience. Enough so that there is at least a couple of paths through the story for when people inevitably Alt over.Β Β

Ya, is good point. i played Pokemon MMO 3D on the new engine & wow... the engine is impressive on what can be made.
Playing this game on the new engine & physics would be rly fulfilling.

i rly do want a massive beautiful sandbox, with great gameplay. i love a great Story Mode with immersive Cutscenes.
i am playing City of Heroes as a Ranged Blaster.

i noticed i can't edit my own Class, with total stats available. i think it would be truly fulfilling to be able to use the Points Pool in my own format.

i rly like that on Champions Online i can have an Electric Attack that is continuous as long as i hold down the button.
Anything like this, that feels like im dishing out a Kamehameha... is absolutely fulfilling.

Also, great work on all the Auras & Wings. literally perfect. i love the in depth character creation. very nice work guys.

i'm sharing City of Heroes, Champions Online & Ship of Heroes on youtube to draw in more people πŸ™‚ more fans = more funding lol

We are very fortunate that our supporters are willing to wait for us to take the time to launch a good game. So far, UE 5.1, as compelling as it is for some, has not made the case that it is a must have for Ship of Heroes. But that could change.

Don't waste time now on the UE5 upgrade unless there's some core technology from it you need.

The graphics in UE4 are more than enough for the game, and especially with all the custom development I know y'all have done on the engine there really isn't enough reason to push yourselves back right now.

Get the game out, get some money coming in, then a good few years down the line you can look at maybe upgrading.

Thank you for the update.
I would make it depend on that how difficult an engine swap would be after release. You would need a closed test server for UE5 transmission and keep the game running simultanoeously.

I personally think bringing the game to release and earn some money finally should be the better way. The UE5 has surely some benefits but being the only modern and legal superhero mmo rpg in the world should bring some other advantages.
Swapping before release is risky imo like others are loosing backers and earning poo-storms for doing that.

In the end itΒ΄s a decission of the makers and it should be made very carefully.

Im not sure of the benifits that UE 5.1 will bring, but if it will make gameplay better then it's something that needs to be done prior to launch. as long as all bugs are taken care of before then.

Exciting news! I'm really looking forward to playing the launched game.

About the switch to UE 5.1, what is the estimated development time? I would be willing to wait another month for launch if the switch will provide significant and/or visible benefits, but I would be disappointed on another 3 to 6 months delay for the switch. Maybe having the switch as an update after launch would be better if the time delay is significant.

1) Make the plan
2) Execute the plan
3) Expect the plan to go off the rails
4) Throw away the plan

Hello everyone, we have a lot going on right now, and I thought I would give a quick update.

We are hunkered down, creating missions for you guys to play, and pushing SoH forward. We will have some good stuff to show (soon -- and yes that should be trademarked) in the next few months, including one significant project we have not discussed in the past.

Just in case there was any doubt, we are not launching SoH in the next seven weeks -- not in 2022 in other words. We're looking at 2023, but we want to be fairly certain that when we announce a launch date, it is as accurate as we can manage.

Right now we are balancing a couple of things -- how much content do we need to have in polished form to launch? How much should we have for post-launch, in a pipeline? and a relative biggie -- should we stop and switch to UE 5.1 as some others are doing? Right now we are incliined against adding yet another delay for UE 5.1.

Feel free to weigh in on any of these issues. 2023 is going to start strong for us, in terms of new material to show off, and a schedule to launch. The next big step is probably to establish a Steam page and associated materials.

Please, everyone, have a safe and happy Thanksgiving!
