This weekend marks the 15-year anniversary of the launching of the closed MMORPG, City of Heroes. We want to honor that anniversary with a newsletter that reveals more of the backstory for one of the signature heroes aboard the FHS Justice.
As you can tell from the title of this newsletter, our marketing team is feeling confident. We often get questions about the UI of Ship of Heroes. So we thought we’d provide an update on some of the work we’ve done recently on UI features and capabilities.
Game developers often share videos among themselves as a way to convey progress. These videos are generally not very polished – they’re simply intended to show the current progress in a part of the game.
In the middle of 2016 we originally began the development of Ship of Heroes with the then-current version of the Unreal Engine, version 4.11.3. As development proceeded, we upgraded our engine version several times, and each upgrade brought new features, but also required a considerable effort by our coders and artists to adapt and upgrade our game code and art to the new version.
Belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Our successful login tests on December 15th took everything we had, so recording this video had to wait until after the Christmas holiday. But we have some very exciting new game elements to show.
