You are going to find a lot to enjoy in Ship of Heroes. First, we have not created end game content yet. It is years away. It is all about the journey. Our power system is more similar to old CoH, in that you can use primary and secondary powers, but you are unlikely to take all of them, so your character will be unique. We do not use gear to change character stats. We use augments and augments can be added, removed or replaced at any time.Generally speaking, only temp powers, not augments, are character bound. Your character is not on rails. There are many ways to level up and playing the mission is what tells you the story. Ship of Heroes has a big, complicated set of stories that intertwine. We think you are going to like it.  

I know this is old. But is there a Monthly, Quarterly, or Annual price range decided on yet?

the thing that i see in most games is focus on end content, and pushing the player through all the content as fast as possible to get them there, Champions does this and it is boring. Also, endless death at the hands of things who you need the gear from to fight seems very stupid. Should you by the time you face the foe have said gear or something equivalent to fight it with? My biggest issue is that City of Heroes was so great in all the things you could do in the game without paying for a shop to get them. I understand a shop will no doubt be a part of how you pay for the game, but an in-game way, even if long could be there as well, again longer and more involved and the cash shop may be much more easy to do. You could bind the ingame one to the account, but please do not character bind items, This is why I skip almost everything in games that do it and one of many reasons I don't like DCU online and others, is champions I tolerate it because it is gone. I like the journey to the top and doing missions (solo mostly) and side missions, discovering things exploring the different powers and combinations as well as creating heroes and such and looks as well. With the current games out there if you could use the updated DCU graphics, with the wall-crawling and such, the content from CoH and the costume designer and power set free form from champions online. You would have a perfect game, toss in many power sets to cover everything from plants, elemental, magic and alien powers and street-level things like martial arts or weapon use from swords to tanks and firearms as well as anything else in between.

There's no variance in any of the lighting. A quick example is the picture you posted in the Father's Day thread. Completely uniform lighting across the entire environment. It feels like the the ambient lighting is turned up way too high, rather than using spot lighting for most things. Obviously there's performance concerns, but any current PC should be handle to it these days, especially under UE4.

Notice the coloured lighting and shaded areas.

Go into the base designer, take any area, turn the ambient lighting down, add lots of spot lighting. Now turn the ambient back up and compare how much worse it looks. That's what I'm referring to.

Excellent news. Something that's been bugging me for a while is the lack of shading and lighting, but I presumed it was going to be part of an upcoming quality pass.  

We are not sure what you are referring to. Shadows and day/light cycle? They have been in for several years and are still in. Something else?

Excellent news. Something that's been bugging me for a while is the lack of shading and lighting, but I presumed it was going to be part of an upcoming quality pass.

Recently, we took stock of the content we have in various stages of production, all the way to “launch ready”. We were happily surprised by the number. We are finally seeing the results of our long-time push creating missions. That is good news. Increasingly, we are focusing on polishing existing content and features to get them truly launch ready. This is also good news. The downside is that it makes it difficult to declare with certainty that we will be where we want to be by a certain date, at least at this time.

Only a month has passed since the second housing beta, yet it feels like a long time. So many things are happening in development! Completing the Housing Beta means we have started some exciting new work that will be discussed in upcoming newsletters, and we are continuing a steady pace of normal upgrades. But we find ourselves challenged to provide an exciting newsletter right now. The things we are working on are either too early to report, or too ordinary to warrant a newsletter. So, here is a partial list of what is going on.

Mission production is continuing and we have added quite a few missions since the Mission Beta last year (https://shipofheroes.com/2021-.....eta-event/). Two of the environments we are adding are off the FHS Justice: a human transport ship and a Nagdellian mother ship. Nagdellians (https://shipofheroes.com/nagde.....ns-invade/) are one of the enemy groups in Ship of Heroes . We have some exciting content planned for these two environments.

Other upgrades are going on in the background. After our testers had some issues using key binds, we reviewed and rebuilt the key binding system. A project to upgrade and diversify our civilian NPCs is well underway. And we are in the process of doubling the costume options in the Character Creator Tool. We think these sorts of upgrades will contribute to an improved player experience.
